Glad you got it as you wished :) Here i've just tried Universal XML Scraper V2, it's indeed quite powerful as it allows you different layouts like screenshot + box art + large title or arcade cabinet layouts (with very few unknowns or failures).

I didn't even know about RGUI until I looked it up... Now I understand what was going on....Emulation is on point, the controller doesn't work until you turn the analog button on.

      Problem solved!
Turns out I was missing the PSX bios. Don't know how I managed to play other games without ever needing them, but once I paid attention to the message "bios missing, add them for better compatibility" and placed them on the BIOS folder, everything turned out better. Games that crashed before no longer do so and I can now switch discs on Resident Evil 2 just like you all told me (eject, switch, close, reset) from the .pbp file.

You should try with SCPH101.BIN bios instead. It's the one from PSOne, so it's more modern and updated and generally should work better (at least that's the case with my games I've tested). Also, try disabling some features like Interlacing and Dithering.

@Jiryn Yeah. If your computer is on the same network as your Pi (and the Pi is running) you can access it via your web browser of choice. I've had it activated for so long I'd forgotten how to make it work, thankfully @ETAPRIME has that covered:

Once active, you can drag-and-drop your BIOS files via the web page. If they're not what RetroPie is looking for it'll tell you then you can seek another source. Saves the time and hassle of repeatedly booting up your Pi to see if you've fixed the problem.

Psx works really good on pi3. I've had far more issues with Sega platforms.

Only downside is that Psx games are rather large (over 500 MB) compared to most.

@hansolo77 you're confusing linux drivers with retroarch input drivers.

udev driver in retroarch supports rumble IF

the core does (pcsx does) your controllers linux driver's udev implementation does (?)

Unfortunately, I am technically not so talented to create a theme. ;-) Thanks for the link, that is already a start. Must times look whether it is still current and perhaps further processed. Thank you.

@AlexMurphy Yes they did. I didn't convert them and it's not a file ownership issue.
It was the bios the old bios I was using SCPH1001.BIN. And downloaded the same one from a trusty website and voilá problem solved.
Thanks for the brainstorming @AlexMurphy. it really helped.

@Capeman As good as it did, for sure, but never as good as you remember it through the nostalgia filter :)
I tried to play again some old PSX 3D games that stunned the young me with beautiful graphics. All I can see now most of the time is a kind of giant pixel gang bang. :(

If your googling skills are good, you can find those eboots already made and save you some time. Their extension is .PBP .
You need to uncompress .ECM files with its uncompressor, but really, I found .PBP files to be zero hassle, but not all games have been compressed to that format.

@LARoehr said in lr-pcsx-rearmed black screen:

      @dankcushions
But it runs great on 3 of my other x86 (x64, actually) systems. Just not on this one with this particular video card driver. If you don't mind my asking, how does lr-beetle measure up to pcsx?

it's just a fairly old emulator that does a good job of running games at native resolution on low-power arm devices, but if you have a powerful PC then beetle is a better choice as it has loads more features (high resolution, perspective correction, etc), and is constantly updated.

@peg Many thanks for all this work too. Just to let you know I had to tweak this guide slightly as when running 'make modules_prepare' I got errors on Retropie 4.8 running on a pi zero 2W. It seems that I had to install 'libssl-dev' first before this command. Can confirm that after this all other steps worked, rebooted and rumble working on both pads as expected on the Trixes adaptor.

For those getting the same errors, here's a full update to @peg guide (I take no credit and thank @peg for this easy tutorial and just helping anyone with the same issue)

      # Install required tools (bc is required for modules_prepare, see Compile) sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install build-essential bc # Setup required variables FIRMWARE_HASH=$(zgrep "* firmware as of" /usr/share/doc/raspberrypi-bootloader/changelog.Debian.gz | head -1 | awk '{ print $5 }') KERNEL_HASH=$(wget https://raw.github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/${FIRMWARE_HASH}/extra/git_hash -O -) KERNEL_VERSION=$(uname -a | awk '{ print $3 }') HID_DRIVERS_DIR=/lib/modules/${KERNEL_VERSION}/kernel/drivers/hid BUILD_DIR=~/psff_build # Setup build dir mkdir $BUILD_DIR cd $BUILD_DIR # Get kernel source wget https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/archive/${KERNEL_HASH}.tar.gz -O ${KERNEL_HASH}.tar.gz tar xfz ${KERNEL_HASH}.tar.gz cd linux-${KERNEL_HASH} # Get Module.symvers and Module7.symvers (not sure Module.symvers is really needed) wget https://raw.github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/${FIRMWARE_HASH}/extra/Module.symvers wget https://raw.github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/${FIRMWARE_HASH}/extra/Module7.symvers # Get current kernel config sudo modprobe configs gunzip -c /proc/config.gz > .config # Enable force feedback / rumble support sed -i 's/# CONFIG_PANTHERLORD_FF is not set/CONFIG_PANTHERLORD_FF=y/' .config sed -i 's/# CONFIG_GREENASIA_FF is not set/CONFIG_GREENASIA_FF=y/' .config # install libssl-dev otherwise following driver compile will fail on 4.8 / pi zero 2w sudo apt-get install libssl-dev # Compile driver make modules_prepare make drivers/hid/hid-pl.ko # Update existing hid-pl.ko with FF support (w/ backup of old version) sudo cp -b drivers/hid/hid-pl.ko ${HID_DRIVERS_DIR} # Enable ff-memless module (not sure why "sudo echo ..." isn't enough) sudo su echo ff-memless >> /etc/modules exit # Reboot sudo reboot

@BuZz Thank you Buzz. I actually just figured it out by gaining access to Retroarch's quick menu using the in-game hotkey, then fiddling around in there till I found something mentioning Bios.

But anyway, everything works now, except for reicast. But thank you all the same.
